Through our operations, we don't change the whole world.

But the whole world changes for this one child.

About Us The Children's Surgery Foundation in Leipzig is committed to helping children who are struggling with severe illnesses or malformations. We support projects that enable a better future for children worldwide.

Between Power Outages and Emergency Surgeries: German Doctors in Action in Ethiopia | SPIEGEL TV

"It's unbelievable what this does to a childhood," says Martin Lacher as he examines his patient. Hamsa is six. He has a congenital malformation of the intestine. In Germany, he would have been treated shortly after birth. In Ethiopia, the boy has been living with the condition for years. Lacher can help. With a team from the Children's Surgery Foundation, the Leipzig native regularly travels to East Africa to operate on children.

MDR at Four - The Strong East

Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) recently reported on the work of the Children's Surgery Foundation in a segment on the "MDR um Vier" program. The report focused on our medical missions in Africa, where the foundation's team is dedicated to providing care for children in need of surgical treatment.

A Heart for Children.

Leipzig Children's Surgery Foundation to be guest at the ZDF fundraising gala "Ein Herz für Kinder" on December 4, 2021, at 8:15 PM.

On this special evening, presenter Johannes B. Kerner presented small and large projects at home and abroad – including the work of the Children's Surgery Foundation (!). Especially for this broadcast, an Ethiopian film crew spent two weeks shooting a short documentary about our aid project in Awassa. And that was in the middle of the country's state of emergency due to the civil war.

Why I volunteer for the Foundation. Our volunteer commitment would not be possible without private donations.

"We support the Children's Surgery Foundation so that as many children as possible can have a carefree life through the work of Professor Lacher and his wonderful team. Our son is one of them."

Julia Möllmann, Christian Kremer Berlin

“In emerging countries, children are always the weakest members of the family and society; they are the first to suffer from hunger and lack of medical care. Because the Pediatric Surgery Foundation alleviates distress and pain locally, at least partially, I support the foundation.”

Herbert Böhmer Lawyer and Notary

I am always fascinated and deeply impressed when Dr. Crass returns from a "mission" and brings exciting pictures and stories. I would love to fly with him every time and be part of this wonderful team. Therefore, it was a matter of course to support the foundation at least with a donation, which I know will go where it is needed!

Dr. Katharina Oettel

We are committed to supporting the Foundation for Pediatric Surgery because we know from our own experience how invaluable the work of Professor Lacher and his great team is.

Carmen and Jürgen Layer

We have been donating regularly to the Children's Surgery Foundation for a few years now because we can be absolutely sure that the help reaches its intended recipients. There is so much suffering in the world, and unfortunately far too few people who actually do something about it. That is why it is important to us to support these dedicated people of the foundation and to assist them, at least financially.
